Walk through double glass front doors into the large family gathering space. Your eyes will go to the coastline view through the huge glass sliders you can open to smell the fresh air and listen to the birds.The space is centered by an enormous wood slab kitchen bar made from an ancient Koa tree. This is backed by a fully equipped kitchen where you can prepare all of the fresh food gathered from the local markets.
Hale Ilio Himeni cottage has been sprinkled with Hawaiiana artwork and period pieces from such historical places as the Volcano House and original Hilo Hotel. You can play a game on a unique Koa pool table. Or just relax and enjoy the view.
Step up into the historical portion of the house to find new sumptuous sleeping quarters separated for privacy, each with its own character and outstanding amenities.
The Ocean Suite is a spacious private bedroom and ensuite bath. Enjoy the breeze as you look out over the ocean horizon from your king size poster bed. Soak your stress away in the tub with sweeping views of the coastline.
The Garden Suite is situated on the mauka (mountain) side of the house overlooking the garden. This suite has a separate entrance onto a covered sitting porch. There is a comfortable queen size bed and a sitting area with a futon for extra sleeping space. This suite has a private entrance to the Spa Bath.
Between the suites across the hall from the Spa Bath is the Reading Room. A much smaller room which can be used for quiet time away from the family room, or extra sleeping space with the addition of an inflatable bed.
The Spa Bath, with cedar ceiling, bright colors, and custom steam shower is a luxurious place to linger and enjoy. You can stand under a rain shower with LEDs, and use the body sprays to invigorate your skin; or, turn on the steam, have a seat and relax. Pamper yourself all while listening to your perfect playlist on the built in bluetooth technology.
Step outside and you’ll find manicured lawns and natural gardens with views of the ocean and Mauna Kea. Discover flowering plants, and fruit trees. The property offers covered parking, a laundry area, and storage for beach and fun equipment.
